I remember just how popular this character was during the 70's. Monsters were big and superheros too. Here was a character that was both. And he was distinctively recognizable, so he was heavily marketed by Marvel back in the day.

The thing I always liked about
Ben Grimm (aka
The Thing) was that even though he was the team tough guy and muscle, he was the biggest softy around. And the guy you would most want to hang out with. A former college football star and test pilot, he is the guy that would always have your back, no matter what.
